Ordering a Repeat Prescription

To request a repeat prescription, please follow the guidelines and choose the right option for you.

Please allow 72 hours (Three working days), excluding bank holidays, for your prescription request to be processed.

We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.

Use the NHS App

Owned and run by the NHS, the NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

The simplest and quickest way to order your repeat medication is by using the NHS App which links directly to your Prescription record at the Practice.

Use Online Services

The simplest and quickest way to order your repeat medication is by using our online service - Patient Access which links directly to your prescription record at the Surgery.

  1. You will need to log onto Patient Access.
  2. If you do not have an account you will be prompted to create a log-in.
  3. After creating a log-in you will be able to order your repeat medication directly from your medication listed on our clinical computer system.

Your Local Pharmacy

Pharmacy Ordering / Collection Service

Pharmacies offer a prescription collection service from our Practice

Your pharmacy can also order your medication on your behalf. This saves you time and unnecessary visits to the Practice. Please contact the Pharmacy of your choice for more information if you wish to use this service.

In Person

You can order in person by returning the right-hand half of a previous prescription for the required medications.

Alternatively, you can submit a handwritten request. You may also write out an order for someone else, providing you include the patient’s name and date of birth and requested medication.

A minimum of 3 working days (72 hours) is needed for processing your request. If you would like your prescription posted to you, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope. 

Once approved your prescription will be sent electronically to the local chemists.

If you wish to nominate one of these chemists, please indicate your preference on the request slip and you will be able to collect your medicines from that chemist after 72 hours.

Some local chemists may be able to deliver your prescription if you are housebound.

By Post

Repeat prescriptions authorised by your doctor may be obtained by completing the tear-off slip on the right-hand side of your prescription.

You can send your prescription slip by post. A minimum of 3 working days (72 Hours) is needed for processing your request.

If you would like us to post your medication back to you, we ask that you include a stamped addressed envelope.

Once approved your prescription will be sent electronically to the local chemists.

If you wish to nominate one of these chemists, please indicate your preference on the request slip and you will be able to collect your medicines from that chemist after 72 hours.

Some local chemists may be able to deliver your prescription if you are housebound.

Repeat Dispensing

If you, or someone you care for, use the same medicines regularly, you may be able to benefit from repeat dispensing from your pharmacist. This means you won't have to visit the surgery every time you need more medicines. The service is also referred to as the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

Medication Reviews

Your medication will need to be reviewed periodically. You will receive a reminder on the tear-off slip.
